About Disire

What we do and what we campaign for

Disire is the disabled people's organisation (DPO) of disabled international residents. We are dedicated to champion the rights of all Deaf and disabled people - no matter where they were born or raised and how long they live in the UK.

We are the voice of disabled EEA/EU citizens who are unable to obtain permanent residence in the light of Brexit because they are unable to work and don't meet the criteria because of that. We also campaign for EEA carers who provide full-time care to their disabled relatives. EEA nationals who are providing such care for their family members are often unable to assert a right to reside.

We also support disabled refugees after they arrived in the UK and campaign for their rights under the UN refugee convention and the UN convention on the rights of disabled people.

"Right now, when we're hearing so much disturbing and hateful rhetoric, it is so important to remember that our diversity has been - and will always be - our greatest source of strength and pride." Michelle Obama
